MG. Memo: Finding Your Menstru-Mate

When it comes to finding your menstu-mate, there are lots of things to consider. At Monthly Gift, we understand that each of our bodies and cycles are unique, that’s why customization is essential. You can design your LBB to fit your body’s needs and your personal preferences.

We asked our friend and registered nurse Janine Kelbach to break down some important things to consider when customizing your box, notably when it comes to selecting your tampon size.

Be sure to choose the amount of absorbency needed for the flow you are experiencing (light, regular, super).

Do not insert a tampon that is too absorbent. For example, if you have a light flow, do not use a super absorbent tampon. If you have a heavy flow, a super tampon may be appropriate.

If you are spotting, the recommendation is to use a panty liner or pad.

Change your tampon every 4-6 hours. While changing tampons often during the day is not a problem, it may be difficult to at night or during long stretches of time where you mightn’t have access to a restroom. Many girls will change to pads at nighttime for this reason.

TSS is rare (it effects an estimated 1 in 700 women) and is seen mostly in women who use the super absorbency tampons, with light bleeding.

Our current offerings are intended to provide each girl and woman the chance to find the ideal pairing of products to get them through their cycle.
