7 Easy Ways to Practice Self-Love and Pick Yourself Up
If you’re feeling down, overwhelmed by the world in big ways or small, you’re not alone. We’ve put together a list of some easy ways to quickly escape the blues, a guide for practicing self-love in times of need (and always).
Be with others
Don’t be alone, though the impulse for isolation can be enticing. Call a friend, call a few, and surround yourself with the people who love and support you.
Go outside
Sunshine is healing (literally), so get outside and soak up that Vitamin D your body wants and needs.
Get active
It’s no surprise that exercise makes you feel good, so if you’re feeling down, get up – literally. Go out and be active in the world: run, dance, hike, whatever gets your blood (and endorphins) rushing.
Eat well
Nourish your body with good food and drink, it will energize you, inside and out, and give you the strength to tackle whatever issues you face.
Give back
A great way to get outside of yourself is to give back to others, to help those less fortunate than you in whatever way you can.
Meditate
Whether or not you know how to namaste like a pro, taking moments out of the day to be silent and empty your mind, can be incredibly rewarding, and there are meditation apps to help you on your quest.
Embrace Gratitude
Whether this is an act of consciousness or a list you make at the day’s end, gratitude is an important practice of self-love as it enables you to focus on the good in your life.
